Re-Covering & Reupholstery
There’s a lot to be said for restoring a sofa or chair with a good, solid frame. Re-covering and re-upholstery are a great way to…
…restore an heirloom
…create a new look
…make an old piece more comfortable
…express yourself
We’ll start by assessing your piece to determine whether it needs structural repair to stuffing or springs. Sometimes refreshing a piece is as simple as stripping and replacing the old fabric. (Looking for something more versatile? Consider slipcovers)
In other cases, we strip a sofa or chair down to its bones and rebuild it lovingly for sturdiness and comfort.
For traditional pieces, our training with European master upholsterers* means that we can restore heirlooms using archival techniques and materials specific to the era and country of origin. We can also use advanced foam fabrication to capture the profile of traditional designs with contemporary materials.
If that all sounds complex, it’s because we’re very serious about our craft — but when it comes to working together, we promise to make it fun. Did someone say indigo paisley?
*"Master Upholsterer" is an official guild title indicating the highest degree of skill and knowledge.
Furniture Design
We can create some truly unique pieces through re-upholstery. But there are situations in which only custom design will do. We’re thinking of a chair customized for the comfort of a certain very tall client. And then there is the padded kitchen bench that needed to fit into a seven-foot, three-inch nook. We can do that. We can do all of that. And if you want an ottoman buttoned discreetly with glass eyeballs, we can do that, too. (Don’t believe us? See our art upholstery)
